It’s National Invasive Species Awareness Week!
As the state closes out Hawaii Invasive Species Awareness Month, we enter the nationally recognized week aimed at raising awareness and identifying solutions to invasive species issues on all levels from local to international .
From Feb. 26 through March 2, many national experts are participating in presentations in Washington, D.C., on topics ranging from Climate Change and Invasive Species, Legal Issues Surrounding Invasive Species Management and Early Detection and Rapid Response. In Hawaii, meanwhile, a series of events and programs took place throughout the month of February, including weekly Hanauma Bay Education Program Seminars. If you’d like to learn more about invasive species in our islands, the seminars have been posted to YouTube:
