Mālama Maunalua hosts the premier internship program in the region, offering the opportunity for students and young professionals to work on regional marine and terrestrial resource issues alongside longtime members of the community and our MM staff. Interns gain valuable marketable skills to further their academic and professional careers, obtain applicable experience working with an environmental nonprofit organization, conduct real, cutting-edge scientific research on projects throughout Maunalua Bay, and build relationships and network with other environmental organizations in Hawai’i through MM education, outreach, and volunteer opportunities. By the end of their internship experience, all of our interns have the opportunity to create a final project or product that will be used to make real management decisions in Maunalua Bay, to benefit the bay and the community alike.
